British Science Week 2025
British Science week is an annual 10-day celebration of science taking place from the 7th-14th March. Schools and communities organise events or activities that promote STEM education, and we have assembled some example lesson plans tailored to fit this year’s theme, enabling you to readily run a lesson with your students.
The theme this year for 2025 is ‘change and adapt’, this is a great opportunity to educate and encourage positive adaptations in behaviour to combat some of the ways that the world is changing. Microbes are spreading due to global travel and climate change, and their resistance to antibiotics is rising from misuse. On the other hand, vaccinations are continually advancing. But there are many ways that we can adapt our behaviours to tackle these changes to protect our health and the health of those around us.
See below for our British Science Week toolkit of resources. Alternatively, explore the e-Bug website in full for all of the resources on offer!

Vaccinations
Vaccinations have made incredible strides, protecting us from diseases that once caused widespread suffering. Staying up-to-date with vaccinations, including new and booster jabs, is crucial. By doing so, we protect ourselves and our communities. Check out these videos to understand the concept of immunity and vaccinations: How vaccines work and vaccine and immunity

Antibiotics and Antimicrobial Resistance
With antimicrobial resistance becoming a global health crisis, it is important that children; the antimicrobial users and prescribers of the future, understand what antimicrobial resistance is, why these medications are becoming resistant and how we can all adapt our behaviours to keep them working.
